Horizon Grand Prix

We participate in Horizon Grand Prix races, where students build a remote control car powered by a hydrogen fuel cell. This is the first year our school has had two teams and we're all excited to see what they come up with!

Team 1

Faith, Charlie, Meera, Noelle, Noa, Sawyer Rivin, Nicolas

Team 2

Advita, Anugrah Atharva, Athena, Ben, Christine, Ethan, Jaclyn, Ria, Sukruti, Theo

Chassis

Team 2's car for the competition is made from a carbon fiber chassis, so you know that it won't scratch. To make sure that the main car is in top shape for the competition, they built a seperate car to practice on. The practice car is made of more avalible materials, making it less of a loss if anything unfortunate happened

Shout out to Toyota Mirai, our sponsor!

Making the Car Body

The plug is what we use to vacuum form the plastic exterior, so it needs to be strong enough to hold the force. Last year's team tried 3d printing, clay models, and high-density foam, but settled on foam. Once the plug was made, they formed the carbon-fiber shell and added final touches.

This year team 1 is taking it outside the box. They're working on a custom made CAD design for their shell. Once they 3D print the model and tweak the design then their car will definatly be the best in show!

MORE INFO COMING SOON
